Making the ring with Photoshop

I just saw the horror movie called the ring (again), I just love horror movies, then I had a look at the dvd cover, the ring in the front cover inspired me to make one for my self in Photoshop. So I did, and I also made a Photoshop tutorial about it for you.

So here you will see how to make the ring from the front cover of the movie the ring, in Photoshop.

First of we will need the ring shape, so with the ellipse tool draw a ellipse on the stage with white color, then draw one smaller in black and place it in center of the white one as shown below. (remember in two different layers)

In the layers panel right click both layers and choose rasterize layer, then hold down ctrl and click the layer with the small black circle to load the selection, you can now delete the black circle layer. Selection the first layer again, and hit delete, now you should have a ring shape.

Now go to filters -> stylze -> wind and give it settings as shown below.

Rotate the ring and repeat the wind filter in both 90 degrees rotation, 180 and 360, then you should have a ring like this.

Now go to filters -> distort -> ripple and give it settings as shown below.

You should now have a ring looking like this.

Now to typing in the text, I found a text font called "chiller" and it fit perfect in what I wanted, I typed in my text with a white color and placed it on top of my ring as shown below.

Go to the layers styles panel and give the text an outer glow as shown below.

Now go to filters -> blur -> gaussian blur and just blur it a bit on the edges and you should be done.
