Stylish frozen content box in Photoshop

In this Adobe Photoshop tutorial you will see how to make an easy frozen or grudge effect to a content box.

frozen content box effect

First off start by making your basic content box shape with the rectangle tool as I did below.

In the layers panel right click the rectangle layer and choose rasterize layer to make the shape into a normal pixel layer.

Go to filter -> stylize -> wind and give it settings as shown below.

Now repeat this step two more times so you get a result like this.

Then go back to the wind settings panel and set it to "from the left" and add this filter 3 times so you have a box looking like this.

Flip your content box 90 degrees and apply the wind effect again 3 times, notice that now the effect will also be added to the "spikes" for the right and left which gives a cool look.

Rotate the content box back 90 degrees and we are almost done. The last thing we will do is to add a small gradient effect.

So now double click the content box layer in the layers panel to get to the layers styles panel and give it a gradient as shown below.

Very well written tutorial, but I have to say, I am a bit disappointed by the outcome. I understand that this may be meant for beginners, but this has been overdone to the point where its starting to look terrible. That, and the fact that there is no finishing work being shown, which makes it little more than an over worked text box.
