Awesome boxed text style in Photoshop

In this Adobe Photoshop tutorial you will see how to make this awesome boxed text effect. This text effect is great to apply in some logo text for you website or just to make some text looks more interesting.

And this is what to do, with the rounded rectangle tool draw a rectangle shape on the stage, the color wont matter we will change that in a second.

In the layers panel right the the new layer containing the rectangle and choose rasterize layer. Now double click the layer to get to the layers styles panel and give it settings as shown below.

Now we will need to create our letter, so with the text tool type in your letter as I did, I used the font Courier because it give a nice effect as you can see from mine.

Hold down ctrl and click your letter layer in the layers panel to load a selection around it, now you can delete your text layer we wont need it anymore. Then select our layer with the rectangle from before and hit delete so you delete the inner part of the rectangle as in the image below.

The final step will now be to give the text a glossy effect, so hold down ctrl and click the rectangle layer to load the selection, then with the elliptical selection tool use subtract from selection mode and drag out as below.

Now with the gradient tool make a gradient going from white to transparent and drag it in the selection we just made and you should have your final image.
